The documents that should accompany a visa application form are the following:
- Three passport size photographs
- Valid passport (valid for at least six months after leaving Russia)
- Letter from your future employer
- Completed application form
You will be issued a residency permit once you are granted a work visa. Please check with the local Russian Embassy in your country for more information as to which documents you will need.
> FINDING A JOB
Finding a job in Russia might not be an easy task. You should browse through local papers, and also through the websites we recommend on this page.
Most jobs require that you speak Russian, but you can also find employers willing to hire English speakers with little or no knowledge of Russian.
The majority of newspapers are in Russian, so you should consider studying the language before moving to the country. That way you will have at least some basic knowledge of Russian to get by during the first months of your stay.
The labour market in Russia is still open to expatriates, although there is a tendency for hiring local people to do the job foreigners carried out in previous years.
This, however, will not affect overseas job seekers immensely. There are many companies willing to hire foreign personnel for the simple reason that they cannot find suitable candidates in Russia (but of course, they cost a fraction of what a foreigner would).
